Church Planting Positions
Nehemiah Church Planter (NCP)
A NCP is an appointed missionary who begins a church through the Nehemiah Project. The Nehemiah Project is a cooperative effort between NAMB and Southern Baptist seminaries. NCPs serve as lead church planters and in non-pastoral roles. Nehemiah interns are starting Anglo, Ethnic, and African American churches throughout the United States and Canada. The greatest characteristic of a NCP is a passion for reaching people for Christ and the ability to congregationalize the results.
Church Planting Missionary Pastor (CPMP)
The CPMP has the primary assignment of beginning a new church. The CPMP serves as pastor of the new church. The CPMP is assigned one primary field in which to begin a church. However, it is common for him to lay the foundation for beginning several new churches.
Multihousing Church Planting Missionary (MCPM)
The MCPM begins churches in multihousing environments. Mobile home parks apartment complexes, condominiums, and hi-rise facilities contain some of the most unchurched people in the United States and Canada. The MCPM uses various types of ministries, worship, and evangelistic outreach to reach multihousing residents for Christ. The MCPM may serve as pastor or in a non-pastoral role. Multihousing church planting involves working with facilities managers and recruiting volunteers from local churches.
US/C-2 Missionary (US/C-2)
The US/C-2 missionary strategy is designed to give college graduates a meaningful two-year mission experience in the United States and Canada. Candidates are age 30 or younger. Single men and women and married couples are considered. Candidates must have had active membership in a Southern Baptist church for at least two years.
Mission Service Corps (MSC)
The MSC church starter participates in all aspects of starting a new church. This person can be either the lead church planter or work with a lead church planter as part of a church planting team.
Church Planter Pastor (CPP)
A CPP begins a new church or pastors a young congregation. This missionary category is for men who need financial assistance for a defined period of time. Most often, the CPP serves in a new work state convention. Financial assistance is provided for the pastor whose church is in a growth mode. Soon, these newer churches will assume full financial responsibility for their pastors.
